In the alternative sub-particle incongruity that is Glaukom Synod, it is still the year 2000, the millennium bug has fully effused, & the halcyon days of “Cyber Grind” are permanently outstretched.
For those unaffiliated, the long-running French project deliverers an aesthetically unwavering solecism of lo-fi analog Industrial Cybergrind, mechanical malfunction, addled noisecore, speedcore, & offcut & repurposed elements of “dance” & “prog” defectives – all subject to varying degrees of extreme experimentation.
Sounds good yah? Well, it is.
Within this signature, his work can vary considerably between releases, & although always maintaining a certain standard & allowing for personal preferences, some GS episodes are stronger than their compatriots.
This 20th-anniversary re-release cassette version of 2006’s Androjungleous is definitely a high point for the band.
It brings highly structured, weirdly orientated, murky & chronically corroded Industrial-Cyber deformity with dump-seepage of “in bad shape” early 00s dance & machinegrind orts.
Not only is it good, it’s highly unconventional, even in Cybergrind territory.
Confounding conventional proceedings, it does not simply resort to hard shelling blastbeat programming (nothing wrong with that) & “midi-grind”, but rather builds on the bizarre mechanized monstrosity of its own maladjustments. Conceptually, this ten-track recording seems to straggle as hard as possible, even dragging the genre Jungle into the muddlings & mishap.
There’s even a remix of cult-curio Groundzero Deathtrap.
Very cool shit, & pushing the Cybergrind genre to the max, with humongous versatility.
Essential standout oddity.
