Another nadir of controversy saw Adelson purchase the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper (as an “unidentified buyer”) so he could muzzle all negative press about his dirty, corrupt & illegal dealings running his casino empire in Nevada. This malpractice, where oligarchs & criminals with shady reputations purchase newspapers to negate bad press & investigations into their criminal conduct, as well as exert influence/blackmail/plant stories, is repeated by the likes of Jared Kushner, Evgeny Lebedev & Robert Maxwell.
